I should have posted a review of Steve’s Poke Bar long ago because it IS my go-to for poke in the city. When you go to a place often, you may take it for granted but good service and good value should be given its due recognition. The bowls are always fresh, the portion sizes are good and the establishment is generous with their selection of toppings. I recently tried their Hawaiian chili and fruit tea – both proved delicious! At the beginning of 2024, the franchise announced they were even lowering their prices, recognizing the hardships of 2023. No other chain has done that! This makes Steve’s Poke one of the most customer-forward businesses around. They consistently deliver healthy, high quality food at a great value. Why choose any other poke?

I had such a lovely experience at this Poke place today! The girl at the counter was super kind and helpful—she patiently helped me pick out my meal, and just as I was paying, I suddenly had a bad stomachache. To my surprise, she offered me a cup of hot water without me even asking. I never expected to receive such thoughtful service at a food court. Truly touched by her kindness—I’m honestly in love with this place now!

The male staff yesterday was helpful and friendly. There’s so many great topping options and the portions of each were great. This became my ultimate favourite poke bowl place and if it was within walking distance, I’d be there everyday!

Our first experience with Steve’s Poke Bar was with their location up at SFU. While we were quite impressed with their poke, we’re hardly ever up in the SFU area. So I was quite pleased that they opened up a brand new spot in the new food court area of Lougheed Town Centre. While there are a ton of “poke” shops that have opened up around town over the last couple of years, I find that most of them are a far cry from the simple and classic poke that you get in Hawaii. In my opinion, toppings are great, but should take a back seat to the main attraction... the sashimi. Fortunately, Steve’s is one of the places around town that seems to get that and tries to stick with the Hawaiian-style of poke while still offering customers the option of adding the toppings of their choice (after all, Vancouverites are quite fickle when it comes to food). It’s been a while since I was last at Lougheed Town Centre and they’re doing a lot of development in the area. I had trouble finding the food court at first because they shut down the old food court location so I had to walk around until I finally found it on the 2nd floor near The Bay. When I visited in early January, Steve’s was one of the few food outlets open but that worked out for me perfectly. I ordered up their Spicy Scallop and Shoyu Ahi (13.40) on a bed of quinoa and added edamame, wakame, corn, white onions, green onions, imitation crab, and fried garlic. It’s actually a pretty good size bowl. Steve’s Traditional Poke Bowl (16) is one of their set bowls which keeps things simple... you get 2 scoops each of their signature Shoyu and Spicy Ahi on a bed of furikake seasoned rice. It’s a good value for the amount of poke that you get and lets you enjoy the flavours of the pre-marinaded fish. On my next visit, I decided to try their daily special – Ala Moana Ahi (extra 1) and paired it with the Spicy Scallop on a bed of greens and added wakame, edamame, corn, imitation crab, green onions, white onions, and crispy garlic bits with shoyu and spicy mayo sauce. The Ala Moana Ahi has a bit of a spicy kick to it compared to their regular shoyou ahi. I actually quite enjoyed my poke with the salad option so I came back the following week and tried it again but picked the Spicy Salmon and Shoyu Ahi and added edamame, corn, pineapple, green onions, white onions, wakame, imitation crab, crispy garlic bits and spicy mayo sauce. After a few visits, I realized that two scoops of poke isn’t enough for me so I started switching things up and ordering 3 scoops... Spicy Salmon, Spicy Scallop, Shoyu Ahi... first on salad and then on quinoia I would like to see a bit more rotation of special items... maybe see tako or some other type of fish. After recently coming back from our trip to Hawaii, the first thing I did was come back to Steve’s because it’s one of the closest things to Hawaiian poke that you can get here.

Incredibly tasty Poke with hard working staff. Steve's Traditional Mega Bowl with all vegetables & Meat choices was spicy with a wonderful fresh flavour. The employee making my lunch legitimately seemed to care about making a high quality meal & knowing how my day was unfolding. This is among my top 5 eating out experiences in my life. If you want to try Poke in Vancouver, this is the place.

Quite a bit of choices of toppings and extras than your regular poke bowl. Instead of charging by weight they barge by scoops. Fantastic friendly customer service and recommendations. Sashimi is fresh and tastes is great! I recommend trying place out!

As someone with kinda high standards regarding pokes, I was sincerely impressed by Steve's. The quality of the ingredients was superb and the service was outstanding. The person who attended us was very patient and went beyond to make us feel cared for. When in doubt about what proteins to orders she even gave us samples to help us decide. The Ala Moana Ahi Tuna was a pleasant surprise, as well as the Steve's Ono sauce. Just one detail, if you're not into seafood or tofu, and are looking for other proteins like chicken, this is not the place for you.

I love this location. I mean in general I love Steve's Poke Bar, but this one always has the friendliest service and is my go to when I visit Lougheed Mall for the occasional lunch break food court visit. Obviously the food is amazing and the best part is you can order a bowl that you'd think is too big for you, but you down it anyways because YOLO and waist size is just a number and you feel great after.
